Tigers Trade One Linebacker For Another

Good Friday sees LSU lose one linebacker commit and gain another.

Good Friday saw LSU’s recruiting gain a linebacker prospect and lose another, with Houston area linebacker Josh White pleding to the Tigers, and California’s Jaden Navarrette switching his commitment to Oregon.

White is a 6-1, 200-pound prospect out of Cy Creek High School who chose the Tigers over reported offers from Oklahoma State and Alabama. White is a four-star prospect and rated as the 20th-best outside linebacker in the 2020 class.

Some recruiting experts believe that Dave Aranda would like to move White to an inside linebacker position. White visited LSU earlier this spring. So what kind of player is he?

Obviously smaller, but White looks a lot like Devin White in how he diagnoses the play, puts his foot in the ground and attacks a gap. Closes really well. He’ll have to add some bulk to take on blockers, but you have to love the speed.

Meanwhile, it only took about two weeks for California outside linebacker commitment Jaden Navarrette to switch his verbal pledge from LSU to Oregon on a visit to the Ducks.

Well, 110-percent committed would be much more than what Navarrette gave to the Tigers after visiting Baton Rouge for the spring game.
