The marathon continues. Last night LSU benefited from a spectacular performance by Clay Moffitt for a 9-0 win over Grambling. The 5 innings of 2-hit ball were the best performance of his career and allowed LSU to get through the night on only 3 pitchers. The offense kept up it’s pace from the weekend, blowing through Grambling for an 8 run lead in the 3rd inning, which allowed for Coach Mainieri to make multiple defensive substitutions in the 4th inning. On a busy 5-game week, this was the optimal outcome we could have hoped for.
South Alabama (13-14, 3-6 Sun Belt) is typically one of the better teams in the Sun Belt, but their resume is not impressive this season, with OOC weekend series losses to Bama and Clemson. USA is coming in to BR after breaking a five game losing-streak last night in a 15-6 beatdown of Southern Miss. No pitcher has been announced for USA.
LSU – So. RH Ma’Khail Hilliard (0-1, 1.38 ERA, 13.0 IP, 8 BB, 16 SO)
