The LSU athletics department is working with the NCAA and the Southeastern Conferene after a video circulated of former LSU receiver Odell Beckham Jr. handing Justin Jefferon multiple $100 bills during the national championship celebration on the field, LSU announced in a statement Monday afternoon.

The original poster of the video was Morgan Lagree, a French Canadian reporter for The Blue Pennant, a french language website covering college football. He has since changed his account to private and the video cannot be linked.

The Baton Rouge Advocate first reported that the money was fake novelty bills that were found on the field after the celebration, but in an appearance on Barstool’s Pardon My Take podcast, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow said Beckham Jr. was handing out real money.

“I’m not a student athlete anymore,” Burrow said on the podcast. “So I can say yeah.”

LSU coach Ed Orgeron said during Tuesday’s post-championship press conference that it was the first he was hearing of the incident.

Beckham was a member of the LSU football team from 2011-13 and attended Newman High School in New Orleans.
