If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it does it make a sound? Follow up question, if LSU plays a basketball game in an empty arena at 2:00 P.M. on a college football Saturday—behind a paywall no less!—does it actually happen?
The answer to both those questions is, allegedly, yes. Will Wade’s squad (1-0) returns to the Chaifetz Arena to play the hosting St. Louis Billikens (2-0) of the Atlantic 10. Surely you’ll pick this game over watching the Alabama-Auburn or Ole Miss-Miss State.
LSU is fresh off a 94-81 win Thanksgiving night over the Cougars of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Freshman two-guard Cam Thomas looked as good as advertised leading the Tigers with 27 points, while junior small forward Darius Days scored a career-best 24 points.
The Billikens, which per SLU.edu is “a mythical good-luck figure who represents ‘things as they ought to be,’” bring back all five starters from a team that went 23-8 in the A-10 last season. Most critically, they bring back Javonte Parker, the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year last season.
Tipoff is set for 2:00 P.M. For those of you who don’t have ESPN+ you can listen to the game on radio on 100.7 FM. Patrick Wright and John Brady will have the call for the LSU Sports Radio Network.
