Game one of LSU baseball’s three-game Purple-Gold World Series starts Wednesday evening at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30.
Games 2 and 3 are scheduled for Thursday and Friday respectively, and both will begin at 6:30 P.M. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the general public will not be allowed inside Alex Box.
“Naturally, we’re disappointed that we can’t allow the general public into the games,” said Paul Mainieri. “The Purple-Gold World Series is an event our players look forward to each year, and it helps them become accustomed to what a night at ‘The Box’ is like when we have fans in the stands. We will definitely miss the fans, but our players have worked extremely hard this fall, and they’re ready to compete in a game-like atmosphere.”
Below are the lineups for the Purple and Gold teams. Mainieri said that the rosters were structured so that LSU’s best pitchers—starters and relievers—would be on the Purple team and face the presumed starting 1-9 batting lineup on the Gold team.

And here are the pitching matchups for the World Series
- Wednesday: AJ Labas (Purple) vs. Garrett Edwards (Gold)
- Thursday: Jaden Hill (Purple) vs. Ty Floyd (Gold)
- Friday: Landon Marceaux (Purple) vs. Will Hellmers (Gold)
Mainieri met with reporters Tuesday afternoon ahead of the World Series. Mainieri said he is confident a season will be held next spring, though whether or not there will be non-conference games remains to be seen.
“The only question would be what the schedule’s going to look like,” Mainieri said. “Is it going to be all SEC games, or is it going to be a combination of SEC games and non-conference games?”
