Hey, y’all. How’s everyone doing, trapped in their homes and hopefully not sick?
As you can tell, things have slowed down considerably here at ATVS, as there are no sports to talk about in what is usually the busiest time of year. We also lost a lot of our staff recently due to retirement (Billy), promotion to a new gig (Adam), or getting caught in the middle of a labor pissing contest between our corporate overlords and the regulatory state (Dan).
And I wish I could be pumping out content for y’all to read, if nothing else, just to help everyone pass the time in isolation. As our resident pseudo-historian, I do have a long list of things I want to write about, most notably getting the History Classes going again.
I haven’t been able to do that because, as most of y’all know, my Real Life job is lawyering. This just in, the world suddenly shutting its doors and close nearly every industry had a few legal ramifications. I’ve been absolutely swamped at work, and every waking hour I’ve had has been in my makeshift home office, trying to keep up with the workload.
That’s not a complaint, mind you. We are way luckier than most. Both of us still have jobs and have been able to keep working from home. Everyone in the house is healthy. During a pandemic and an economic collapse, we are easily among the luckiest people out there.
But it has meant I’ve had no time to do anything for the site. Hopefully, over the next few days, the initially craziness will die down a bit and I’ll be able to get back to posting something that is at least tangentially related to LSU sports.
Those history articles take a little bit of research, so we can’t just assembly line them out for your consumption. Besides, y’all deserve that hand crafted touch you’ve come to expect from all of us here at ATVS, or at least those of us who are left.
This is a long way of saying sorry for the lack of content to get you through this, the longest of rainy days. I’ve got some stuff in the oven to pass the time, but I just need to find the time to write it. Or set it up.
Anyway, until then, consider this the COVID-19 open thread. Also, unlike usual, we take requests. If there’s a long term project or goofy thing you’d like to see in this corner of the internet, well, we’re open to ideas. Let us know.
By the way, did you know that LSU won the national title? Cool, right? Apparently it was the last sports title ever. We won. No takebacks.
Thanks for your patience. Stay safe.
