After the first 10 seed came just short of upsetting a 2 seed in the Big Dick Joe Region, the Cigar Region’s 10 seed pulled off the shocker yesterday, probably the biggest upset of the tourney so far.
Today we move on to a 3-6 matchup, with a sizable yard disparity involved.
No. 3: Joe Burrow’s 7 yard run vs. Auburn
Why it should advance:
Because this touchdown was a goddamn flex. Burrow sprints ahead then strolls into the end zone almost casually, then beats his chest nonchalantly, something I didn’t know a person could do.
In the one game where it didn’t feel like our offense could do whatever they wanted, a QB draw was quite the gamble. Based on Burrow’s reaction, he probably didn’t think it was as risky. He knew he was scoring.
No. 6: Racey McMath’s 60 yard catch and run against Mississippi State
Why it should advance:
When your offense is struggling, the buzzword used is that you need a spark.
The 2019 LSU offense’s idea of a spark was lighting fireworks.
Obviously, the State secondary is an easy culprit here, but I love the instant narrative shift on this play. Even if we had scored a touchdown on a methodical drive, we might still be uncomfortable with how well Clanga is playing us. But as soon as this one play happened we all said “Nah we’re winning by 20+.”
