We’ve wrapped up the Big Dick Joe, Cigar and Get the Nat regions of our Joe Burrow bracket, now we’ve made it to the Tiger King region. Thursday the Sweet 16 begins, but between now and Wednesday we’ll decide which four scores from this region advances. Without further ado, welcome to today’s vote.
No. 1: Ja’Marr Chase’s Knockout Punch vs. Florida
Why it should advance:
Because this play put the dagger in a Florida team that gave LSU all it wanted that Saturday night in Death Valley. We spent last week pondering some what ifs in LSU football history, well what if Florida quarterback Kyle Trask doesn’t throw that interception to Derek Stingley Jr. and the Gators tie the game at 35? Let’s assume this play to Chase still happens, is Florida, down only one score instead of two, able to push the game into overtime? I think it’s possible.
But Trask did throw that interception, and Burrow and Chase made Florida pay for the mistake. Could Florida have won this game without that turnover? Maybe. Is it too late to change anything? Absolutely.
No. 8: Ja’Marr Chase’s In-and-Out Move vs. Vanderbilt
Why it should advance:
Because if we’re going strictly off degree of difficulty of the throw, this play is superior. I love the Florida play but Chase was wide open and all Burrow had to do was not mess up the throw. This play? I think it’s more impressive. Chase sets up his man with an inside move only to break his ankles and cut back outside, and Burrow has to hit the fade route.
I’m curious how this vote goes. One play had the lesser degree of difficulty, but it effectively ended a game against a top-10 opponent. Whereas this throw was the harder play to convert, but the game’s a blowout at this point. Vote and sound off in the comments.
