We’re here: the final matchup of the Sweet Sixteen. We unfortunately haven’t seen much drama in this round, but that could change today. Both scores in today’s matchup were mostly inconsequential to the final score, but just looked so dang badass.
No. 2: Burrow’s 23 yard strike to Ja’Marr Chase against Georgia
You know, the one where Burrow danced in the pocket for the duration of an episode of Friends. I don’t know about y’all, but about halfway through when we all realized he was gonna be standing in the pocket for an absurd amount of time, I just knew it was going to be a touchdown. However, I assumed it would be because of a receiver came wide open. 2019 LSU always manages to makes things look most impressive as possible, so even though Burrow did through a touchdown like I assumed, he fit the ball into a football-sized window.
Between this play and the one earlier in the drive where Burrow caught his own pass and ran 16 yards, everyone knew this game was a wrap.
No. 3: Burrow’s 37 yard dime to Derrick Dillon vs MSU
*Stefon from SNL voice*
This play has everything! Beautiful pocket awareness from Burrow, a perfect deep ball on the money to Dillon, Jimmy Burrow in an ATVS shirt!
Again, this is probably the least consequential score left in the bracket. Football dudes love to talk about how style points don’t matter. LSU had enough regular points to go 15-0, but I’d like for their style points to count for something because they had a hell of a lot of them this year.
