After today’s announcement of the new plans for SEC football in 2020, Schools will now begin to work on their plans for how to accommodate fans in the limited numbers expected to be allowed by public health officials. To do that, and to give LSU fans who are unable to attend games this season due to a myriad of reasons caused by the pandemic (health issues, travel restrictions, etc.) LSU has begun to notify season ticket holders of their option to opt out of their tickets for the 2020 season while still retaining them for the future.
In an email sent to season ticket holders today, LSU offers the following options for those who want to opt out (full text of the letter below):
- Rollover to 2021 - Apply your seat contribution and ticket costs to the 2021 season.
- Full Refund - A full refund of the seat contribution and ticket costs for 2020. You can still hold on to your seats for 2021 by putting down a deposit.
- Make a donation to TAF - Donate your seat contribution and ticket costs for 2020 season to the Tiger Athletic Foundation
The letter is only an announcement of the upcoming options, with the decision to be made by season ticket holders in the coming days. This plan is similar to those announced by other college and pro football teams across the country as they plan for the reality of very restricted capacities at home football games.
