The DBU fraternity appears to have added its newest member when four-star corner back Nathaniel Wiggins out of Atlanta committed to LSU Friday evening.

Wiggins is the No. 117 player in 247’s composite rankings, the No. 8 corner and No. 13 prospect from the state of Georgia. Wiggins and safety Khari Gee are the only two defensive backs currently in LSU’s 2021 recruiting class and are both from the Atlanta area. LSU seems poised to add at least one more defensive back as Lafayette Christian’s Sage Ryan, the No. 1 safety in America, is considered a heavy LSU lean.

Wiggins plays both ways for Westlake High and could easily play corner, safety or receiver at LSU, but his future seems to be at corner. LSU is currently loaded with cornerbacks that have anywhere from two to three years of eligibility remaining like Derek Stingley Jr., Cordale Flott and Elias Ricks.

Wiggins gives LSU its 17th commitment in its 2021 class. The class is currently ranked third nationally, trailing only Ohio State and Alabama. Wiggins is the 14th member who is outside the state of Louisiana to commit to LSU.

LSU also added a pair of commitments to its 2022 class earlier in August. The Tigers got a pledge from Shone Washington, a four-star defensive tackle from Warren Easton, and Lucas Taylor a four-star guard from Mobile, Alabama. It’s still early of course, but LSU currently has the No. 1 recruiting class on 247’s composite for 2022.
