As the clock struck midnight and the 2021 year was being celebrated, LSU’s signing class added another piece in the form of three-star offensive linemen Kimo Makaneole.

Makaneole, from the Florida panhandle, was originally committed to Florida State. But Makaneole backed off his commitment on December 28, a few days after visiting Baton Rouge the weekend of the Ole Miss game.
Makaneole isn’t the most heralded recruit out there, 247 lists him just outside the top-500, but adding more offensive linemen to the 2021 class has been a priority of Ed Orgeron and his staff. Prior to Makaneole, LSU only had one offensive linemen, four-star tackle Garrett Dellinger, in its class.
As it stands now, LSU has 20 players signed to its 2021 class; the Tigers may not be done adding offensive linemen, however. Five-star tackle Tristan Leigh will commit tomorrow on NBC’s All-American Bowl: Declaration Day. LSU is also in the mix for JUCO offensive tackle Jordan Moko, from Australia.
