The 2021 LSU coaching staff is bringing in a familiar face.

Jorge Munoz, who worked as an analyst for the program in 2019, is returning to LSU again as an analyst. Munoz spent 2020 in Waco with Baylor as Dave Aranda’s passing game coordinator.

Analysts aren’t allowed to coach on the field, but Munoz had a big impact in 2019. Munoz focused on installing LSU’s blitz protection and worked with offensive line coach James Cregg. LSU’s offensive line won the Joe Moore Award in 2019.

The Tiger offensive line struggled in 2020, allowing 25 sacks last season. But the line looks to be a strength in 2021, with all five starters returning.

“We missed him last year,” Orgeron said. “So he’s back. In fact I talked to him today. That’s a big get for us.”

Munoz is highly regarded inside the LSU program. He went to New York for Joe Burrow’s Heisman ceremony and was thanked in Burrow’s acceptance speech.

Orgeron confirmed the news on a Monday evening interview with WWL. Orgeron also said that his son Parker, will be joining the staff as an analyst.
