Turns out Ja’Marr Chase is gonna be okay.
Chase was named the NFL’s rookie of the month for the month of September. Through his first four games of his NFL career, Chase has caught 17 passes for 297 yards and four touchdowns. He’s currently sixth among all receivers for yards, and tied for second in touchdown receptions. Not bad for a guy many said couldn’t catch.
He also made history in Cincinnati’s week three win over the Pittsburgh Steelers when he caught his third and fourth touchdowns. He set the record for most touchdowns scored after a player’s first three games, breaking Hall of Famer Randy Moss’s 23-year-old record. If you’re keeping track that’s the second rookie record of Randy Moss’s a former player broke. Last year Justin Jefferson set the record for receiving yards by a rookie with 1,400, eclipsing Moss’s 1,313 total.
Chase and Joe Burrow have picked up right where they left off in 2019 when they set fire to opposing defenses. In fact their first NFL touchdown connection looked awfully similar to their 50-yard strike against Clemson in the national championship.
Chase has been a deep threat too and NFL defensive backs are seeing they can’t press him at the line of scrimmage. They obviously weren’t watching Chase son future first round picks like CJ Henderson and AJ Terrell.
One knock on Chase coming out was getting off press. So far this season, Chase vs the Press:

14 catchable targets
13 receptions
203 yards
138.7 passer rating
5 explosive plays (15+ yards)
And he’s seen press more than any other rookie WR. Good luck opposing DBs. pic.twitter.com/ZdpeDdeyOv
Congrats to Ja’Marr Chase!
