Somehow it’s getting worse

A terrible, horrible, no good, very bad season for LSU just got worse.

Star sophomore wide receiver will miss the remainder of the 2021 football season with an ankle injury as first reported by Matt Zenitz of On3 sports. Boutte left the Kentucky game in the fourth quarter and had to be carted off the field.

Boutte has been by far and away LSU’s most productive receiver. He leads the team in catches (38), yards (509), and led the SEC in touchdown receptions (9).

Boutte had been the only bright spot for LSU this season. The sophomore from New Iberia had turned into one of the best receivers in America since Terrace Marshall opted out last November. Over the last nine games Boutte had 65 catches for 1,035 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The injuries don’t stop there, unfortunately. Head football coach (cough cough) Ed Orgeron confirmed that safety Major Burns, defensive tackle Joseph Evans, and defensive end Ali Gaye will be out for Saturday’s game against Florida; Glen Logan, however, will be available for the first time this season after breaking a bone in his foot over the summer.
