Per ESPN, Smith is a top-five prospect from the state of Texas and the No. 57 overall player in the 2022 class. Smith was a walking double-double, averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds for DeSoto, en route to the program’s first ever state championship.
It was a massive weekend for the future of the women’s basketball program. Not only was Smith in town, but LSU also hosted Mikalyah Williams, the No. 1 player in the 2023-’24 circuit who happens to be from Bossier City. Flau’Jae Johnson, a top-25 player in the ‘22 cycle, took an official visit as well. A Georgia native, Johnson is currently uncommitted but taking a visit to LSU certainly goes a long way.
Finally, LSU also got a visit from Me’Arah O’Neal, Shaq’s daughter. O’Neal is a 6’3” center currently in her sophomore year at the Crossroads School in Santa Monica. Her brother, Shareef, plays on the men’s team while her sister Amirah, played for LSU before transferring to Texas Southern over the summer.
