Basketball Schedule Update: LSU to Travel to Ole Miss Wednesday

Tigers will travel to Oxford for the second time

LSU filled an open date on its schedule Sunday afternoon, with the program announcing the Tigers will head to Oxford to play Ole Miss this coming Wednesday, February 17.

LSU was originally supposed to play Ole Miss in Oxford on February 17, but that game was moved up to January 9 when LSU’s game against Missouri was called off and Ole Miss lost out on its game against South Carolina. LSU won the first Ole Miss game in convincing fashion, 75-61.

LSU came into this week looking for an opponent to fill that open date, and Will Wade was prepared to hastily put together an out-of-conference game for LSU if need be. LSU had games against Missouri and Florida postponed but both teams were scheduled to play on Tuesday.

So instead LSU will take on an Ole Miss team that’s been on a roll lately, winning four straight games including a pair of home upset wins over Tennessee and Missouri. The Rebels are 12-8 on the year, 7-6 in SEC play and currently ranked 55th in the NET, meaning it’s a Quadrant 1 opportunity for the Tigers. This will also be LSU’s fifth road game in its last seven contests.

Tipoff is set for 8:00 P.M. and the game will be carried on ESPNU.
