LSU Announces Dates for Spring Practice, Pro Day

Spring practice begins March 16, Spring Game scheduled for April 17

LSU announced its dates for spring practice and the annual the National L Club spring game Wednesday afternoon.

The 15 practices will begin March 16 and LSU will practice three days a week over a five-week span. The 2021 edition of the spring game is scheduled for Saturday April 17.

LSU is currently in their pre-spring activities known as the 4th Quarter program. Ed Orgeron said the 4th Quarter drills will be different this year as opposed to previous years in that the team will do the drills together instead of being broken up by position. It’s part of Orgeron and the coaching staff’s efforts to build cohesion amongst the entire team.

“They’re all going to learn to fight for each other. One Team, One Heartbeat,” Orgeron said. “Defensive linemen, offensive linemen, quarterbacks, wide receivers, DBs, they’re all going to be in groups together so it’s not like we’re fighting against each other.”

“We fight for each other. We’re not gonna be fighting against each other, we’ll be fighting for each other. I thought we needed to be closer as a team like we were in 2019 and it’s going to help our team get to know each other.”

In addition to spring ball, LSU announced its pro day is set for Wednesday March 31. There is no 2021 NFL combine, instead the only in-person testing will be held on these pro days at schools’ campuses. Teams may only send three representatives to each school; interviews and psychological evaluations will be held virtually and there will be limited in-person medical exams.

LSU’s pro day is the only opportunity draft-eligible Tigers like Ja’Marr Chase, Terrace Marshall, Tyler Shelvin and others will have to wow scouts. The Draft is scheduled for April 29, and will end on May 1.
