The Paul Mainieri era at LSU isn’t over just yet.
Mainieri and his Tigers earned a bid in the field of 64 for the 2021 NCAA Tournament and will travel to Eugene as the region’s three-seed. LSU will join the hosting Oregon Ducks, the No. 2 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs and No. 4 seed Central Connecticut Blue Devils.

LSU was one of the teams sitting squarely on the bubble but wasn’t one of the last four teams in. Despite LSU’s 34-22 record and 13-17 conference mark, LSU’s top-four strength of schedule and top-30 RPI helped the Tigers get in.
Interestingly enough, the Eugene Regional is paired with the Knoxville Regional. So should LSU advance, the Tigers could potentially take on the highly sought after skipper of the Vols, Tony Vitello.
LSU will play Gonzaga Friday at 9:00 P.M. Central. The game will be streamed on ESPN3.
