Perfect Game named LSU’s star freshman outfielder Dylan Crews the 2021 National Freshman of the Year.
Crews, who many call the Mike Trout of college baseball, was the highest ranked high school prospect to make it to college and lived up to his five-star billing.
Crews hit .362 with 16 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs and 42 RBIs. The 18 home runs, affectionately referred to as Crews Missiles, set a new single season school record by a freshman.
In addition to his Freshman of the Year award, Crews was named a Second-Team All-American, Freshman All-American, Second-Team All-SEC and Freshman All-SEC. He is the seventh Tiger to be named Freshman of the Year, joining Todd Walker, Brett Laxton, Mike Fontenot, Lane Mestepey, Alex Bregman, and Alex Lange.
