Tigers At The #TokyeauxOlympics: Watch Guide, July 22-25

OLYMPIC BROADCASTING SERVICE IS ON THE AIR

The Tokyo Olympics are....a hot mess. Between closed venues, Covid cases already spreading among athletes, and a local populace and sponsors that have largely turned against the games, it still seems kinda iffy if they’re going to pull this off at all.

But, they have at least started. Soccer and Softball started 2 days before the opening ceremonies, and some of your LSU Tigers are already in action. Allysha Chapman and Women’s Soccer Canada tied Japan 1-1 in their opening match. Amanda Sanchez is playing 3B for the Mexico Softball team, who fell in their first game, 0-4 to Canada.

Watching the Olympics live, especially with the Pacific Rim time difference, will be difficult, with most events happening from the late evening to the wee hours of the morning. NBC’s website will stream all events, both live after the fact on-demand, but you will need a cable login to use it. Some events will air live or on tape delay on the various NBCUniversal networks (NBC, NBCSports, USA, Olympic Channel) In addition, the Olympic Channel will be running a constant stream of highlights from all events when it’s not airing a live event. During the 2018 Winter Games, I found Olympic Channel to be a great way to keep up with all of the action that I didn’t want to watch a full replay of. It’s already running highlights of the early soccer and softball matches.

Below, I have compiled a chart of all the LSU Athletes and the when and wheres of their competitions through this Sunday. I’ll post new updates as the weeks go along. Note that the Track & Field events don’t start until July 30th and some of the other events don’t start until next week.
