The talented LSU roster was well represented among the All-SEC selections.
Derek Stingley and Cade York headline the group with their well-deserved first team nod. The second team (which, given some sketchy selections, is basically as good as the first team), is riddled with LSU talent with Ed Ingram, Austin Deculus, Eli Ricks, Kayshon Boutte, and Ali Gaye representing the Purple and Gold.
I understand that it makes me an idiot to get annoyed about preseason All-whatever team selections, but the non-obvious ones were often very silly. Eli Ricks should ABSOLUTELY be on the first team, PFF is wise enough to have him as the No. 2 corner in the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Matt Corral as the first team QB is fine since they don’t want to project with JT Daniels or Bryce Young as the first team guy I guess. Whatever, Bryce Young will be come postseason. That said, we KNOW Bo Nix is bad and he’s the 3rd team QB over the likes of Bryce Young (who is more likely to hoist the Heisman than be worse than BO NIX), Myles Brennan, who is a question mark but is better than Bo Nix (who isn’t?). The first team All-SEC also has four cornerbacks which makes zero sense. “DB” isn’t a good enough catch all term, you’re just being lazy. Since this is getting rant-y, where is my boy Mike Jones Jr, who was an elite off-ball LB at Clemson? (Another guy PFF affords the proper credit).
As for takeaways, Alabama’s defense is ridiculous and they’re gonna kill everyone again. I hate it here, move them to the East.
