The Associated Press released its preseason Top 25 poll and your Fighting Tigers of LSU open the 2021 season ranked 16th.
Alabama, unsurprisingly, opened the year at the top of the poll. Oklahoma is No. 2 and Clemson, Ohio State and Georgia round out the top five.
All together the SEC has five teams ranked to start the 2021 season. In addition to Bama, Georgia, and LSU, Texas A&M (5th) and Florida (13th) were ranked. Ole Miss and Auburn are just outside the poll in the others receiving votes category. Ole Miss is essentially ranked 27th while Auburn is right behind them at 30. Speaking of receiving votes UCLA, LSU’s season opening opponent, barely cracked the receiving votes category with two points.
LSU opens the 2021 season September 4 against the Bruins in the Rose Bowl.
