Things in Monroe are looking pretty bleak.
The Warhawks had maybe the toughest 2020 football season out of anybody, going 0-10 last year and a result fired head coach Matt Viator who had done a decent enough job in his previous three seasons. Now ULM is starting all over and most outlets have the Warhawks winning just one game this year.
I hate to say it but...it’s the perfect opponent for LSU to play ahead of Texas A&M

Bowden, the former Auburn head coach, will coach against LSU for the first time in 23 years. He’s spent the past seven years coaching Akron and got the Zips to a pair of bowl games.
He’s bringing Rich Rodriguez, yes that Rich Rodriguez, in to be his offensive coordinator. Rich Rod took a break from coaching in 2020, the last time we saw him he was the OC at Ole Miss in 2019. Bowden also tapped Alonzo Hampton, a ULM alum, to be his defensive coordinator. This will be Hampton’s first time being a defensive coordinator, but he’s plenty experienced. He’s mainly been a defensive backs coach with stops at Western Kentucky, South Florida—where he was also the special teams coordinator—Oregon, and Florida State.
You don’t get to 0-10 by accident and the Hawks were a mess in all phases last year. ULM couldn’t score (16 points a game) nor could they stop others from scoring (allowed 42 points a game). The cupboard is pretty bare in terms of talent; ULM didn’t have any player make a preseason All-Sun Belt team and, unsurprisingly, the Warhawks were picked to finish last in the conference’s West Division.
