Your Guide to the NFLSU Preseason

Football!.... maybe?

AP

Believe it or not the NFL Preseason begins tonight. That means 57 former Tigers will see the field. Lucky for you, we’ve compiled a list of all of them so you know when to tune in and see them play!

Even if you’re not an NFL fan the preseason can be fun to see which Tigers are getting a chance and which ones are still hanging around in the league after all these years. Even the backups get significant playing time so if there’s a Tiger on a roster, he’ll almost certainly see the field.

The teams are organized by number of former Tigers on the team so you can bandwagon the ones on the top and shame the ones at the bottom.

Cleveland Browns

TIGERS: WR Odell Beckham Jr, WR Jarvis Landry, LB Jacob Phillips, CB Greedy Williams, S Grant Delpit

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Jaguars (NFL Network)

8/22 vs Giants (NFL Network)

8/29 at Falcons (NBC)

The only team in the NFL with five LSU Tigers: the good ol’ Cleveland Browns. Coming off their best season in most of the ATVS staff’s lifetimes, the Browns have plenty to be excited about. Getting three former Tiger stars back from injury is a big part of it. Obviously OBJ grabs headlines but Delpit and Williams didn’t see the field at all last year, but both are full participants so far in training camp. All five should be locks to make the roster and lucky for us all of their preseason games are will be broadcast nationally.

Carolina Panthers

TIGERS: WR Terrace Marshall Jr, CB Donte Jackson, DE Frank Herron, TE/DE Stephen Sullivan (???)

SCHEDULE

8/15 at Colts (NFL Network)

8/21 vs Ravens

8/27 vs Steelers

Year 2 of Joe Brady’s NFL offense adds one of his best weapons from LSU in Marshall, but he and Jackson may see limited minutes since they’ll be big pieces come September. Hey remember Frank Herron? Also Stephen Sullivan apparently plays both sides of the ball now but he was placed on the COVID list the other day so we might not get a chance to see that experiment.

Cincinnati Bengals

TIGERS: QB Joe Burrow, WR Ja’Marr Chase, NT Tyler Shelvin, TE Thaddeus Moss

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Bucs

8/20 at Washington (NFL Network)

8/29 vs Miami (CBS)

Ah Bengals. How quickly they went from every LSU fans bandwagon team to our mortal enemies for what they did to our precious boy. They added three more members of the beloved 2019 squad to get back in our good graces, but it’s time they do right by Joe. Bengals management said they didn’t plan on playing Burrow in the preseason following his devastating knee injury last November, but Burrow has been pushing to play. If you’re surprised by this you did not watch Joe Burrow play at LSU. Even if he doesn’t it’s been 19 months since we watched Ja’Marr Chase play football which is far too long. We’ve got two nationally televised opportunities to do so.

New England Patriots

TIGERS: NT Davon Godchaux, S Jalen Mills, DE Tashawn Bower, T Jerald Hawkins

SCHEDULE

8/12 vs Washington (NFL Network)

8/19 at Eagles (NFL Network)

8/29 at Giants (NFL Network)

Sure they’ve got four Tigers but they also have Cam Newton and Mac Jones at QB. Personally I’d skip!

Seattle Seahawks

TIGERS: S Jamal Adams, G Damien Lewis, C Ethan Pocic, DT Al Woods

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Raiders

8/21 vs Broncos

8/28 vs Chargers (NFL Network)

Wanna know something crazy? Al Woods is the only member of the 2007 BCS Championship team still in the NFL. Good for him!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

TIGERS: LB Devin White, RB Leonard Fournette, LB Kevin Minter, WR Cyril Grayson

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Bengals

8/21 vs Titans

8/28 at Texans

The defending Super Bowl champions are tied for the second most Tigers on the roster. Who knew having LSU players on your team would be such a good strategy? They aren’t on any nationally televised preseason games, but come on man you know you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see these guys play in the fall.

Kansas City Chiefs

TIGERS: RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB Darrell Williams, S Tyrann Mathieu

SCHEDULE

8/14 at 49ers

8/20 at Cardinals (ESPN)

8/27 vs Vikings (NFL Network)

Speaking of recent Super Bowl Champions, the Chiefs return three key contributors who once wore purple and gold. The return of Damian Williams after sitting out 2020 due to COVID concerns likely means we see less Darrell Williams, but Clyde is too good to keep off the field. Also that Mathieu guy is pretty good.

Minnesota Vikings

TIGERS: WR Justin Jefferson, DE Danielle Hunter, CB Patrick Peterson

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Broncos

8/21 vs Colts

8/27 at Chiefs (NFL Network)

I don’t know how much they’ll all play, but the midfield photo after Vikes-Chiefs is going to be incredible.

Tennessee Titans

TIGERS: CB Kristian Fulton, WR Racey McMath, FB Tory Carter

SCHEDULE

8/13 at Falcons

8/21 at Bucs

8/28 vs Bears (NFL Network)

This is a weird mish-mash of players, but they’re all national champions! Good for them.

Atlanta Falcons

TIGERS: LB Deion Jones, WR Russell Gage

SCHEDULE

8/13 vs Titans

8/21 at Dolphins

8/29 vs Browns (NBC)

The Falcons finally recognized two wide receivers from Alabama were taking up too much of the spotlight from an LSU guy and traded one so Russell Gage could shine. Great to see!

Buffalo Bills

TIGERS: CB Tre’Davious White, LS Reid Ferguson

SCHEDULE

8/13 at Lions (NFL Network)

8/21 at Bears (NFL Network)

8/28 vs Packers (NFL Network)

We really live in a world where the Bills and Browns both won playoff games and are expected to make it back now. Incredible.

Dallas Cowboys

TIGERS: G La’el Collins, LB Jabril Cox

SCHEDULE

8/5 vs Steelers (FOX)

8/13 at Cardinals (NFL Network)

8/21 vs Texans

8/29 vs Jaguars (NFL Network)

A rare chance to watch a Texas football team that won’t be playing in the SEC in a few years.

Denver Broncos

TIGERS: C Lloyd Cushenberry III, CB Kary Vincent Jr

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Vikings

8/21 at Seahawks

8/28 vs Rams

It’s really jarring to think about how many players the 2019 team put in the NFL. And they still aren’t done.

Jacksonville Jaguars

TIGERS: WR DJ Chark, LB K’Lavon Chaisson

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Browns (NFL Network)

8/23 at Saints (ESPN)

8/29 at Cowboys (NFL Network)

Curious to see how the QB who completed less than 50 percent of his passes without throwing a TD against LSU in the National Championship Game does in the NFL. Surely he’s in good hands with the coach who let Joe Burrow transfer out of his program.

Miami Dolphins

TIGERS: LB Duke Riley, LS Blake Ferguson

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Bears (NFL Network)

8/21 vs Falcons

8/29 at Bengals (CBS)

Long snapping brothers in the same division is easily one of the coolest things NFLSU has given us.

New Orleans Saints

TIGERS: G Will Clapp, LB Kwon Alexander

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Ravens

8/23 vs Jaguars (ESPN)

8/28 vs Cardinals

Saints just beat the buzzer by re-signing Kwon the other day, but it’s unlikely he’ll see much preseason action coming off a torn Achilles.

Arizona Cardinals

TIGERS: DE Rashard Lawrence

SCHEDULE

8/13 vs Cowboys (NFL Network)

8/20 vs Chiefs (ESPN)

8/28 at Saints

The first of the teams with only one former Tiger. The rest of these don’t make a compelling case.

Baltimore Ravens

TIGERS: LB Patrick Queen

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Saints

8/21 at Panthers

8/28 at Washington

Chicago Bears

TIGERS: T Badara Traore

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Dolphins

8/21 vs Bills (NFL Network)

8/28 at Titans (NFL Network)

Detroit Lions

TIGERS: DE Michael Brockers

SCHEDULE

8/13 vs Bills (NFL Network)

8/21 at Steelers (NFL Network)

8/27 vs Colts

Los Angeles Chargers

TIGERS: DE Breiden Fehoko

SCHEDULE

8/14 at Rams (NFL Network)

8/22 vs 49ers (NFL Network)

8/28 at Seahawks (NFL Network)

Los Angeles Rams

TIGERS: T Andrew Whitworth (!!!)

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Chargers (NFL Network)

8/21 vs Raiders (NFL Network)

8/28 at Broncos

Okay so remember how Al Woods was the last member of the 2007 teams still in the league? Andrew Whitworth is really still out here holding it down for the 03 team. What an insane man.

Las Vegas Raiders

TIGERS: TE Foster Moreau

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Seahawks

8/21 at Rams (NFL Network)

8/29 at 49ers (NFL Network)

New York Giants

TIGERS: WR Derrick Dillon

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Jets

8/22 at Browns (NFL Network)

8/29 vs Patriots (NFL Network)

Philadelphia Eagles

TIGERS: S JaCoby Stevens

SCHEDULE

8/12 vs Steelers

8/19 vs Patriots (NFL Network)

8/27 at Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers

TIGERS: G Trai Turner

SCHEDULE

8/5 vs Cowboys (FOX)

8/12 at Eagles

8/21 vs Lions (NFL Network)

8/27 at Panthers

San Francisco 49ers

TIGERS: DE Arden Key

SCHEDULE

8/14 vs Chiefs

8/22 at Chargers (NFL Network)

8/29 vs Raiders (NFL Network)

Washington Football Team

TIGERS: T Saahdiq Charles

SCHEDULE

8/12 at Patriots (NFL Network)

8/20 vs Bengals (NFL Network

8/28 vs Ravens

NO TIGERS ON THE ROSTER. SHAME THEM
