The first LSU athletics event of the 2021-2022 academic year begins Friday night as Tigers open up with a home exhibition against ULM at 6:00 P.M at the LSU Soccer Stadium.
LSU Soccer enters year two under head coach Sian Hudson, who guided the Tigers to an 8-8-3 record last season. The Tigers closed out 2020 in strong fashion winning six of its final eight games and bring back 20 players from last year’s team.
The returning group is headlined by fifth year senior Tinaya Alexander (nine goals, two assists in 2020), senior Molly Thompson (five goals in 2020), and redshirt sophomore Taylor Dobles (three goals, two assists in 2020). LSU also brings back goalkeeper Mollee Swift whose 80 saves and 0.95 GAA made her one of the best keepers in the SEC.
Almost all 17 of LSU’s regular season games can be viewed in some capacity. Two games will air on national television: a September 26 home game against Georgia will be carried on ESPNU, while SEC Network will have an October 14 road game against Kentucky. Every LSU home game and road SEC game can be streamed on SEC Network+. The only games—to my knowledge at least—that won’t be streamed are road games against South Florida (August 26), Central Florida (August 29), Arizona State (September 5) and UL-Lafayette (September 9).
The SEC Tournament will be held between October 31 through November 7. The NCAA Tournament begins a few days after, with the first round of games being played November 12 through 14.
