Trey Holly Named SEC Freshman of the Week

A heck of a debut

NCAA Football: Army at Louisiana State Matthew Hinton-USA TODAY Sports

You never get a second chance at a first impression and freshman running back Trey Holly made the most of his LSU debut.

Holly led LSU in rushing Saturday night against Army with 91 yards on six carries and scored a 67-yard touchdown. As a result of those efforts he was named the SEC’s freshman of the week.

Holly enjoyed one of the most productive careers in Louisiana high school football history. He broke former LSU running back Nick Brosette’s rushing record and ended his career with 10,523 yards.

LSU’s running back room is deep so that’s why we haven’t seen Holly much this season, but he made the most of his opportunity. With him and Kaleb Jackson in fold, the LSU running back room ought to be in good hands moving forward.
