LSU Ranked 14th in Week 3 CFP Poll

Some chaos would go a long way toward a New Years Six game

NCAA Football: Georgia St. at Louisiana State Matthew Dobbins-USA TODAY Sports

The College Football Playoff committee unveiled its latest ranking and LSU moved up one spot from 15th to 14th.

There weren’t really any significant changes in the top 10. Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan would all be in if the playoff started today. The only change to the top-10 was Washington flip flopped with Florida State. As of now the Huskies would be in, while the Seminoles would be left out and considering FSU has lost Jordan Travis it feels like a loss is on the horizon.

Based off where LSU is in the poll, a New Year’s Six bid isn’t totally unreasonable...they’ll just need a whole lot of help to get there. Pull for Miss State to knock off Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl and Arkansas to upset Mizzou. And if Florida State does survive and finish unbeaten, maybe a collapse by Louisville (vs. Kentucky this weekend and vs. Florida State in the ACC Championship next week) could help LSU to sneak into a New Year’s Six game.

This week’s CFP rankings are as follows:

  1. Georgia
  2. Ohio State
  3. Michigan
  4. Washington
  5. Florida State
  6. Oregon
