LSU Up One Spot to 13 in Latest CFP Poll

Not enough chaos to sneak into the New Years Six

LSU got some help but not quite enough last weekend and as a result only moved up from No. 14 to 13 in the latest CFP rankings.

Thanks to a Louisville loss to Kentucky LSU was able to bump a spot, but there was potential for so much more. I’m looking at you, Egg Bowl. LSU’s the highest ranked three-loss team, but whatever hope they had at back dooring their way into a New Years’ Six is off the table. Best case for LSU is going to the Citrus Bowl or whatever they’re calling the Outback Bowl these days.

Now the intrigue surrounding college football centers on championship Saturday. Washington and Oregon are playing a de facto playoff game Friday night, while Texas is going to need some help to jump into the final four. What about the SEC Championship? Does Georgia still get in with a loss? And if Georgia does lose will Alabama jump from 8th to 4th? We’ll find out this weekend.
