LSU Ranked 13th in Final CFP Poll

The final four is Michigan vs. Bama and Washington vs. Texas

LSU stayed at No. 13 in the final College Football Playoff poll, now we await to see which bowl game LSU gets invited to.

Seeing as LSU didn’t play this weekend there was no drama as to whether or not they would move up in the poll. The only thing anybody cared about was what would the final four be and this is how it shakes out after championship Saturday:

  • No. 1 Michigan will take on No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl (4:00 P.M., New Year’s Day, ESPN)
  • No. 2 Washington plays No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl (7:45 P.M., New Year’s Day, ESPN)

Florida State is on the outside looking in at No. 5 despite finishing undefeated and winning the ACC. The injury to Jordan Travis knocked the Noles out even though they took care of everything within their control. Personally I think the committee got it wrong and Florida State should be in, not Alabama but my opinion doesn’t matter.

Speaking of Alabama, their win over them Dawgs ends Georgia’s dream of a three-peat. Georgia drops from 1st to 6th. Georgia and Florida State will play each other in the Orange Bowl.

The final CFP Poll is as follows:

  1. Michigan
  2. Washington
  3. Texas
  4. Alabama
  5. Florida State
  6. Georgia
  7. Ohio State
  8. Oregon
  9. Missouri
  10. Penn state
  11. Ole Miss
  12. Oklahoma
  13. LSU
  14. Arizona
  15. Louisville
  16. Notre Dame
  17. Iowa
  18. NC State
  19. Oregon State
  20. Oklahoma State
  21. Tennessee
  22. Clemson
  23. Liberty
  24. SMU
  25. Kansas State

The other three New Year’s Six Bowl matchups will be #11 Ole Miss vs. #10 Penn State in the Peach Bowl, #8 Oregon vs. #23 Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl and #9 Missouri vs. #7 Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.

LSU’s bowl bid has yet to be announced, but Brett McMurphy of the Action Network projects the Tigers will play NC State in the Gator Bowl.
