LSU Hires Kevin Peoples as Defensive Coach

The former Mizzou coach follows Blake Baker to Baton Rouge

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV. 25 Arkansas at Missouri

Brian Kelly’s new look defensive staff took another step forward as LSU hired former Missouri assistant coach Kevin Peoples.

Peoples coached defensive line last season with Missouri and will follow Blake Baker to Baton Rouge. Peoples will reportedly coach defensive ends and edge rushers, while Bo Davis will coach the interior defensive linemen. Peoples was a semifinalist for the Broyles Award this past season.

Peoples, like all the hires Brian Kelly’s been making this offseason, has ties to Louisiana. Peoples coached at Tulane for four seasons (2016-2019), and also served two different stints at Northwestern State University (1996 and 2001).

Brian Kelly is putting together an awfully impressive coaching staff, and there’s still positions to be filled. LSU will still need to hire a secondary coach (Corey Raymond?), a tight ends coach, and an offensive coordinator (Joe Sloan or Cortez Hankton?).
