LSU lands the No. 1 prospect for 2025

First it was five-star No. 1 receiver Dakorien Moore. Then it was five-star No. 1 running back Harlem Berry. Now it’s five-star No. 1 quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Underwood, the top overall prospect in the class of 2025, announced his commitment to LSU in a ceremony at his high school in Belleville, Michigan. Underwood picked LSU over schools like Alabama, Colorado, and the hometown Michigan Wolverines.

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic this is LSU’s biggest commitment...maybe ever? Kevin Faulk, Ryan Perriloux, Russell Sheppard, and Leonard Fournette all come to mind, but this one feels different. Maybe it’s because Underwood’s not in LSU’s usual recruiting footprint; maybe it’s because he plays the most important position in all of team sports. Maybe it’s a combination of both. All I know is Brian Kelly and his staff went to the opposite end of the country, and plucked the best player in next year’s cycle right out of Michigan’s backyard.

The Tigers have the No. 1 quarterback, running back, and wide receiver currently committed to its 2025 class and—unsurprisingly—have the No. 1 class according to On3 and the No. 2 class according to 247. There’s still a long ways to go till signing day of course, and LSU is going to have to play a whole lotta defense, but if Brian Kelly can hold onto this nucleus, this 2025 class could be the start of something special for LSU football.
