Time to get back up on that horse and start winning some baseball games again. LSU is back at The Box tonight to get rid of the bad taste of a woeful offensive performance at Vandy. Alex Bregman in particular, who is 1 for his last 14, needs to get his swing back and get the crew going to #RakeCity again. On the mound, LSU Jr. LHP Cody Glenn (1-1, 4.79 ERA) will start, but only briefly, as a new window of opportunity for a weekend starting role has presented itself. Kyle Bouman sprained his ankle badly by stepping on a ball in practice on Monday and looks likely to be out for this weekend, meaning Glenn could earn himself a shot at starting if he can prove tonight that his issues from the non-conference slate and his bullpen performance over the weekend are behind him.
For the Jaguars of South Alabama (10-8, 1-1 in Sunbelt (weird rain cancellations)) this is the 3rd of 4 midweek games against the SEC and another big chance for them to grow their tournament resume. The Jags took 2 of 3 in a weekend series at Arkansas and have a 3-0 midweek loss to Miss St. USA also has a few crippling losses to some SWAC teams, so I'm not sure how to judge this team. They'll be starting Sr. RHP Matt Bell (2-2, 5.13 ERA), a weekend starter from last season who's been demoted to the midweek due to performance. At the plate, the Jags are entirely under .300 in BA except for leadoff LF Davis Knapp (412/475/441) who's only recently become a regular in their lineup.
Game is on Cox Sports with GeauxZone audio/video simulcast. Also, due to the NIT game, radio is only on 100.7fm in BR tonight.
